Many children of today spend much time on games on the Internet; such games are World of Warcraft (WoW).
Since this takes a lot of the children's attention and time, schools must compete for children's involvement. In this competition the school is perhaps doomed to lose to a competitor who has a goal of making money.
I think it is of great importance that there should be restrictions on the use of WoW for younger children. Look at this!
It explains a lot about the problem.
At the same time, one should also look at opportunities in this new medium. Some scientists even claim that online computer games could be used as a powerful teaching tool for children as they are so popular and engaging. The British Telegraph newspaper had an article about this under the heading” Video games like World of Warcraft and Second Life could be used for education”
My conclusion is therefore that this issue must be discussed in the school system, so that we can relate to this challenge in a professional way.
